Introduction
Floating tenon joinery using the Festool Domino joiner has vastly expanded the capabilities of both professional and hobbyist woodworkers around the world.  While the Domino has several built-in mortise positioning features, most woodworkers find that these do not fit the broad applications of the tool or their personal woodworking styles. The built-in guide pins (or dogs/paddles, depending on the age of your Domino) are very effective, but they can't be changed from the 37mm position. The Cross Stops are adjustable, but the closest they can be positioned to the cutter is 100mm. The trim stop can be used for mortising the end of a board, but it cannot be set up for right-hand and left-hand alignment.

After years of hearing fellow woodworkers ask for adjustable stop positions within the distance of the Domino fence, RTS Engineering developed the Multi-position Guide Stop and Self Centering Guide stop specifically designed for your Domino joiner. These guides combine all the versatility of the Festool accessories, and more, into a single attachment, available in two different models. The guide stops can be positioned anywhere you need them, ranging from 3/8" (9mm) to 2-5/8" (67mm) from the center of the mortise. This means you can position a tenon in the center of a workpiece from 3/4" (19mm) wide to 5-1/4" (133mm) wide.

The Guide Stop accessory fits both new and old style Domino joiners (with either "pins" or "paddles"). It mounts directly to the base of your joiner without modifying the tool. The stainless steel thumbscrews (included) thread directly into the existing accessory holes in the base of the Domino.

The Multi-Position Guide Stop provides multiple, adjustable, stop positions that can be set for commonly used mortise locations. It also allows you to have offset positions, that are not centered about the mortising location, so your workpieces can be joined to form a shoulder or reveal. For example, to create a series of shelves that were set back from the front edge of a cabinet carcase by 1/2", you would use one pair of stops for the front/rear mortises of the shelves and the rear mortises of the cabinet. Without needing to reset these locations, then use another pair of stop locations offset by 1/2" to mortise the front edges of the cabinet carcase. If you build a lot of drawer boxes, you can have position stops for each of your drawer heights. An even greater benefit is that you can set up the position stops to automatically offset the mortise positions for drawer sides that are taller or shorter than the fronts and backs.

The MGS guide can have as many stop positions as you need, up to 6 pair. The MGS-20 comes with 2-pair of stops, and the MGS-30 comes with 3-pair of stops. Additional Stop pairs (MGS-1) can be added separately. When you use one position stop, you don't need to remove or alter the unused position stops. Instead, you simply flip them back, out of the way. This means that you can dedicate position stops for specific dimensions that you commonly use, or move them around for different projects.
The Self Centering Guide Stop provides stop positions that can be easily changed without tools or measuring. Simply loosen the two thumbscrews, slide the stops to the new position, and re-tighten the thumbscrews. A steel coupling cable keeps the two stops always centered around the Domino mortise location.

Like the MGS guide, the stops on the SCG-10 guide are infinitely adjustable from 3/4" apart (3/8" from center) up to 5-1/4" apart (2-5/8" from center). The stops are movable using a sliding dovetail arrangement. This allows the stops to slide freely while remaining captive to the guide, and when clamped in position, are rigidly drawn tight to the guide and firmly locked.

The dovetail saddles (clamps), dovetail bases, and Stop Arms are precision CNC machined from aviation grade billet aluminum, with a hard anodize finish for protection, appearance, and durability. The coupling cable is steel wirerope for strength, and a plastic outer coating for durability. The detent positions for the stop arm's up and down positions are controlled with micro ball plungers with stainless steel balls to last a lifetime.
